A New Perspective

I’m sure you are all familiar with those photos that can reveal two totally different images depending on how you shift your gaze. Well, I’m here to tell you that life and its challenges are no different.

Perception Or Deception

Old Lady or Young Girl

What do you see here? An old woman or a young girl or both?

Sometimes the tiniest shift in the way we perceive a situation can produce a huge result in the way we handle it. A good example is when a pilot makes the tiniest adjustment at the wheel, it will have a great impact the plane’s trajectory.

“Okay, fine but how do I do that?” you may ask. Well, for starters we all need to nurture the two core qualities of ... willingness and open- mindedness.

“Okay, fine” you say, “so how do I do that?”

Here are a few suggestions that will definitely help:

1. Do one thing differently every day … get up on the other side of the bed … brush your teeth after you shower instead of before … take a different route to work …

(I know these sound simple and maybe even stupid … but believe me when I tell you … they can produce powerful results in your life. A tiny shift can create a significant change!!)

2. Attempt one thing you’ve been afraid to do. The mere act of attempting something new … will break you out of your box.

3. When particularly “stuck” … do something mundane, repetitious and totally unrelated to the situation at hand … Repot a plant … Clean out a drawer … Throw something out (This is a particularly powerful process. Letting go opens up the space for something new.)

4. Above all else … experiment … try anything new. You’ve got nothing to lose … you can always go back to you old ways of doing things. It’s always up to you.
