National Doodle Day

In keeping with yesterday's post (and because I really don't feel like writing today) I'd like to announce that March 7 is National Doodle Day in the UK. This annual event supports the work of Epilepsy Action, the working name of the British Epilepsy Association.

What actually caught my eye last week was an article in The Leaky Cauldron reporting that a number of actors from the Harry Potter films had already donated doodles for the auction.
There are a number of ways to get involved, either as a group or individual. You can have a local event, bid on celebrity doodles or "Do a Doodle - Donate a Pound" for the National Doodle Day Competition. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in 6 different categories.

The National Doodle Day website also has a section that goes into a fascinating explanation and analysis of The Meanings of Doodles.

In the US there is a National Doodle Day also know as Doodle 4 NF. NF stands for Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that can be fatal. This annual fundraiser for the Neurofibromatosis Network collects celebrity doodles all-year long and conducts an 10-day auction. This year it begins on May 8, 2014 and ends on May 14.
